Renal Dietitians (RPG) consists of Registered Dietitians and other clinicians who provide renal nutrition therapy interventions and counseling in dialysis facilities, freestanding clinics, hospitals and private practice. RPG's purpose is to offer leadership, professional & educational resources to assist members in providing quality renal nutrition therapy. RPG promotes continuing education programs for renal/nephrology dietitians as well as other health care professionals working with chronic kidney disease (stage 1-5), adult and pediatric dialysis, and kidney transplant patients.

 RenalRD E-Mail Discussion Group

RenalRD is a listserv primarily for those with an interest in renal nutrition. It currently has subscribers from the U.S., Canada and other locations. Like Renalpro, it is unmoderated and is sponsored by the University of Alberta.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library®

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Online Research Toolkit  

A new online Research Toolkit, developed by ANAD's Research Committee and supported in part by RPG is available free of charge to ANAD members at: www.adaevidencelibrary.com/store.cfm?category=13&auth=1. In addition to providing you with essential information on understanding and conducting research, continuing education credits are also available for some topics. The Toolkit consists of eight different topic content areas and includes text that summarizes important learning points, PowerPoint presentations, practice exercises to reinforce learning, and links to nutrition research articles that illustrate content learning objectives.

NKF-CRN: Council of Renal Nutrition (CRN) of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)

CRN is an association of renal dietitians that is one of the professional councils of the NKF. The Journal of Renal Nutrition, an every other month peer-reviewed publication, is a member benefit of CRN. The NKF Clinical Meetings are multidisciplinary annual meetings that offer CPEUs for clinical nephrology professionals. For more information access: www.kidney.org.

 Living Well With Kidney Disease: A Handbook for Patients and Their Families  

The first edition of Living Well with Kidney Disease, previously titled When Your Kidneys Fail, was developed and published by the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California to provide information for people with kidney disease. Among the topics covered are the principles of kidney function, methods of treatment, and financial resources available to patients. The question and answer format, written in non-technical language, is designed to facilitate easy-reading. The handbook will help meet the educational needs of the growing population of people afflicted with kidney failure.  Renal Support Network (RSN)

The Renal Support Network (RSN) is a nonprofit, patient-focused, patient-run organization that provides non-medical services to those affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD). RSN strives to help patients develop their personal coping skills, special talents, and employability by educating and empowering them (and their family members) to take control of the course and management of the disease.  American Kidney Fund (AKF)

The American Kidney Fund is the nation's #1 source of direct financial assistance to kidney patients, and is a leader in providing education and outreach to those who are at risk for kidney disease. Some AKF Programs include:

Nationwide toll-free HelpLine (866.300.2900)- This connects the public with English- and Spanish-speaking health educators who can answer questions about kidney health, and who can direct callers to appropriate resources in their communities.

Professional education learning opportunities - These include conferences, seminars and online CMEs.

Educational brochure and fact sheet series - Published by AKF, these pieces offer the public valuable information about kidney disease and its major risk factors.

The Minority Intervention and Kidney Education program (MIKE) -An educational program that includes free kidney health screenings and follow-up. Through MIKE, AKF is working to raise awareness of kidney disease risk factors, and to identify people who are at risk for kidney disease so new cases of kidney disease may be prevented. A service provided by Renal Support Network. It covers lifestyle and health topics intended for patients with kidney disease and their care-givers and family members. They have a positive themed message throughout the site - Hope - Happiness and Health. View website.

New! American Overseas Dietetic Association (AODA)

The American Overseas Dietetic Association (AODA) is the international affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ANAD).
